WEEK 8-FRIENDSTER

Malaysian firm buys friendster social network site

Online social networking pioneer Friendster has accepted a buyout from Malaysia-based MOL Global, the companies announced Thursday, saying the site would shift into e-commerce.

Friendster, which made its debut in 2002, was widely used to share videos, photos and messages before its popularity was challenged by the emergence of mighty competitors like Facebook. Its users are now mostly in Asia.

Based on my opinion,it is a great opportunity for the firm to enhance it productivity level.E-commerece playing a major role in online business nowdays. It will be easier for the customers to use their service but the same time they have to implement privacy policy to keep the customer's database with private & confidential. What customers as we need is our privacy should be protected.By doing so,it will create satisfaction to the customer and also build loyalty within our heart. It also will create diversity of networking from one customer to another customer.Basically, friendster have it own pros & cons,it depends on the company how they implement the system and attract the customer to use their service within Friendster.

WEEK 7-CANCEL PLAN TO SET UP INTERNET FILTER FOR PORN

Kuala Lumpur - The Malaysian government has cancelled a short-lived plan to install a filter to block pornographic websites, following criticisms that the move was a blow to internet freedom, news reports said Thursday. The about-turn comes barely a week after Information, Communication and Culture Minister Rais Yatim announced that the government was already in the process of selecting an internet filtering system to block pornographic sites.

In my opinion,I dont understand what are the Malaysian government trying to prove?Do you think that existing criminal laws just will be good enough to filter the pornography. What a joke?If Malaysian government didnt take serious action or steps, how we can filter the pornography?Isnt it ridiculous?

China governmnet they have their own internet fiiltering system for pornography..Why dont Malaysia practise and take example from China?China also one of the ASEAN countries and they are very progressive and move ahead compare to Malaysia.

CHANGES ARE VERY IMPORTANT.PLS MALAYSIAN GOVERNMENT DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE PORNOGRAPHY!

We as Malaysians are rich with our cultures and I believe that our religions itself told us to lead a ethical life in order to progress in our life path.I hope Malaysian government will take serious action about the above matter for the goodness of the country and also for Malaysian citizen.

WEEK 7-CENSORSHIP IN MALAYSIA

Hi guys i have came across of this video in youtube & i think it is relevant with the topic. This is an interview by Riz Khan. It's a interesting video involve by Raja Pehtra n the others.

Here,this is a link

From my point of view,I think that Malaysia have too much rules & regulations of censorship. This is because Malaysia is an Islamic country. So Malaysians are strongly believe in culture & tradition. It also representation of Malaysia culture and national identity. So,I agree the government does a great job by censoring the unwanted scenes. If the rules & regualtions are not strict enough, then Malaysia will be as other foreign countries by exposing improper behaviour such as sex & nudity.

I believe that Malaysia are rich of cultures & traditions. So,we should keep the tradition forever.

WEEK 6-CYBER STALKING

What is Cyber stalking?

Cyber stalking is when a person is followed and pursued online. Their privacy is invaded, their every move watched. It is a form of harassment, and can disrupt the life of the victim and leave them feeling very afraid and threatened

Two different kinds of cyber stalking situations which can occur.

1. Online harassment & cyber stalking that occurs & continues on the internet.

2. Online harassment and stalking that begins to be carried on offline too. This is when a stalker may attempt to trace a telephone number or a street address. Always be careful what details you give out over the web and to whom

My mum recently told me about this case.It was happened in India.

In India's first case of cyberstalking, Manish Kathuria was recently arrested by the New Delhi Police. He was stalking an Indian lady, Ms Ritu Kohli by illegally chatting on the Web site MIRC using her name. He used obscene and obnoxious language, and distributed her residence telephone number, inviting people to chat with her on the phone. As a result of which, Ritu kept getting obscene calls from everywhere, and people promptly talked dirty with her. In a state of shock, she called the Delhi police and reported the matter. For once, the police department did not waste time swinging into action, traced the culprit and slamed a case under Section 509 of the Indian Penal Code for outraging the modesty of Ritu Kohli.

70% OF THE VICTIMS ARE WOMEN..SO BE CAREFUL!
